A total of 49 road sections included in the South Sulawesi Provincial
Government’s Multi Years Contract (MYP) programme are currently in the
construction phase. Head of the South Sulawesi Highways and Construction
Development Agency, Andi Ihsan, stated in Makassar on Thursday that
physical progress on MYP Packages 1 through 6 remains on schedule. “In
total, there are 85 road sections. Of that number, 49 are being handled,
whilst the other 36 are still in the planning stage,” said Andi Ihsan.
He explained that work on each package is proceeding normally. Several
sections have even completed the main physical phase and only require
finishing touches, such as road markings. “Hertasning Road is already
nearly 90 per cent complete. Aroepala Road and Burung-Burung Road have
also entered the concrete pouring stage. Most of the remainder just need
road markings to be finished,” he said. The 2025-2027 MYP programme is
divided into six work packages covering a total of 1,400 kilometres of
provincial roads. The breakdown per package is: Package I spanning
300.24 kilometres, Package II 209.38 kilometres, Package III 254.85
kilometres, Package IV 286.80 kilometres, Package V 218.75 kilometres,
and Package VI 157.49 kilometres. The total budget amounts to Rp2.5
trillion, sourced from the South Sulawesi Provincial Budget (APBD). This
road infrastructure development is one of the priority programmes of
South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman and Deputy Governor
Fatmawati Rusdi to improve infrastructure quality, inter-regional
connectivity, and support the community’s economic activities. Governor
Andi Sudirman Sulaiman urged the public to continue supporting the
implementation of infrastructure development so that all stages of work
in the field can proceed smoothly. “We understand the public’s
expectation that all damaged provincial roads be repaired immediately.
God willing, everything will be handled in stages. What we hope for is
the support of the entire community so that the work process in the
field can run smoothly without obstacles,” he said.
",
