        "content": "<p>41 Afghans stranded in Surabaya<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA: A total of 41 Afghans, including 13 children, have<br>\nbeen stranded in Surabaya since Monday after being mistakenly<br>\ntaken here by the Barito passenger motorboat from Kupang, East<br>\nNusa Tenggara.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Tanjung Perak Port Supt. Wijaya Purbaya told The<br>\nJakarta Post on Tuesday that his office was waiting for a<br>\ndecision from the Afghan Embassy, UNHCR and the Immigration<br>\nDirectorate General in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\"They thought that the Barito was bound for Australia.<br>\nFourteen of them have no passports, while the others have<br>\nPakistani passports with them,\" Wijaya said.<\/p>\n<p>Waskito, an immigration official at Tanjung Perak Port, quoted<br>\nthe Afghans as saying that they had left their war-torn country<br>\nfor a better life in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\"Some of them said that many of their relatives had left for<br>\nAustralia,\" Waskito said, adding that they left their country by<br>\nsea and had stopped in Malaysia before landing in Kupang.<\/p>\n<p>The Afghan nationals are now at the immigration quarantine.<br>\n(nur\/sur)<\/p>",
