The merge has to<br>\nbe completed by May next year,\" said head of the local education<br>\nand culture office Sudiono.<\/p>\n<p>Schools facing closure are those with less than 50 pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Sudiono said that despite the reduction in student numbers,<br>\nthe regency needed about 800 elementary school teachers, 300 of<br>\nwhom majored in sports.<\/p>\n<p>\"I've reported the lack of teachers to the ministry but we<br>\nhave yet to hear any answer,\" Sudiono added.
