300 top businessmen meet at IIOGE in Bali<\/p>\n

More than 300 top business players and decision makers from 12
\ncountries will meet here from Saturday to Sunday to discuss
\nvarious issues in the energy sector at the third Indonesian
\nInternational Oil, Gas and Energy (IIOGE).<\/p>\n
Officially opened by President Megawati Soekarnoputri on
\nFriday morning, the meeting was preceded by the 20th ASEAN
\nMinisters on Energy Meeting (AMEM).<\/p>\n
\"The IIOGE annual conference is Indonesia's leading
\ninternational forum for both the domestic and international
\norganizations to explore opportunities that exist within the
\nenergy and mineral resources sector,\" Minister of Energy and
\nMineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said at the opening
\nceremony.<\/p>\n
IIOGE is a forum hosted by state-owned oil company Pertamina,
\nstate gas distribution company PGN and state-owned electricity
\ncompany PLN to promote business opportunities in the country's
\nenergy sector.<\/p>\n
This year's IIOGE conference will focus upon the regulatory,
\nmarketing, social, technological and financial issues in the
\nenergy industry.<\/p>\n
Issues that will be discussed include Indonesia's strategies
\nto meet Asia's energy demands, Indonesia's energy initiative for
\nthe year 2002-2003 and its strategy to balance the central and
\nregional government authority,<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the conference will start with a keynote speech
\nby Emir Moeis, member of the House of Representatives' Commission
\nVIII for energy and mineral resources, environment, science and
\ntechnology.<\/p>\n
Minister Purnomo will deliver his presentation titled:
\nMaintaining Indonesia's position as the Preferred Supplier of
\nLiquid Natural Gas (LNG).<\/p>\n
Other speakers are OPEC's secretary-general Alvaro Silva
\nCaladron, who will, via a live video link, present a paper titled
\nOPEC's Ongoing Contribution to Stability and Cooperation in Asia;
\nand Deputy Minister of Energy of Russian Federation Oleg
\nGeorgievich Gordeev, who will read a paper titled: Russia's
\nGrowing Influence in the Asian Energy Sector.<\/p>\n
Concurrent with the conference, there will be an exhibition
\nfeaturing manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and service
\nproviders of oil, gas, and mineral resources.<\/p>",
