30 prostitutes arrested in raid<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A total of 30 prostitutes working in five mayoralties
\nwere arrested early on Saturday during a joint operation by the
\nJakarta Public Order Office, Jakarta Social Affairs Agency, the
\nJakarta Police and the city's military garrison.<\/p>\n
The prostitutes, who were accused of violating Bylaw No.
\n11\/1988 on public order, were sent to the Kedoya rehabilitation
\ncenter in West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The arrests were made as part of a routine operation during
\nwhich raids were usually conducted twice a month by the City
\nPublic Order Office, coordinator Saad Saleh said.<\/p>\n
On June 1, a raid carried out as part of the same operation
\nnetted 45 prostitutes.<\/p>\n
Saad said the operation was aimed at reducing the number of
\nprostitutes working the streets here, beritajakarta.com reported.<\/p>\n
The officers arrested the prostitutes as they waited for
\ncustomers on the streets or at roadside bars. -- JP<\/p>",
