30 officers attack entertainment center<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): About 20 police officers from the Mobile Brigade
\nattacked the Taman Topi entertainment center in Bogor, seriously
\ninjuring two people and wounding four others.<\/p>\n
Bogor Police chief, Sr. Comr. Taufik Ridha, accompanied by the
\ncommander of the Kedunghalang Mobile Brigade, Sr. Comr. Sujitno,
\nconfirmed the incident.<\/p>\n
Taufik told reporters that the police were investigating five
\nMobile Brigade members who were allegedly involved in the case.
\nThey would be taken to court if there was strong evidence of
\ntheir involvement, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
Expressing his concerns over the attack, Taufik apologized to
\nthe victims and promised to cover their medical fees.<\/p>\n
Sujitno said that the incident happened following the assault
\nof a Mobile Brigade member at the entertainment center on June
\n14. The Mobile Brigade member was assaulted by a group of people
\nand was still in hospital, he said.<\/p>\n
He said that the 20 officers went to the entertainment spot,
\nperhaps saw the people who hit their colleague and immediately
\ntook revenge by attacking them, he said.<\/p>\n
But whatever the reason was, they should not have done that,
\nhe added,<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said that the incident happened
\nbecause some hoodlums in the entertainment center had asked for
\nmoney from a family member of the Mobile Brigade officer.<\/p>\n
The entertainment center is located just in front of Bogor
\nPolice headquarters.<\/p>",
