        "content": "<p>A forest and land fire (karhutla) covering 30 hectares occurred in\nRokan Hilir District (Rohil), Riau. Rohil Police Chief AKBP Isa Imam\nSyahroni took direct action in extinguishing the land fire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarrying out firefighting and cooling efforts on land affected by\nkarhutla in Tanah Putih Subdistrict, Rohil, with full enthusiasm despite\nbeing in the sacred month of Ramadhan, as a manifestation of the\nNational Police\u2019s dedication to the community in protecting the\nenvironment and preventing the spread of forest and land fires,\u201d said\nAKBP Isa on Saturday, 14 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The karhutla response was conducted from 11.00 WIB onwards until\ncompletion. The firefighting operation was attended by Deputy Police\nChief Kompol Rikky Operiady, Operations Chief Kompol Eduar Pardosi, and\nother Rohil Police officials.<\/p>\n<p>The burned land is located along the Riau-North Sumatra trunk road in\nUjung Tanjung Village and Rantau Bais Village in Tanah Putih\nSubdistrict, Rohil District. The burned land was owned by the Kelompok\nTani Rantau Bais Terpadu (KTRBT) farming group.<\/p>\n<p>Other personnel involved came from Tanah Putih Police Station, Bangko\nPusako Police Station, Bagan Sinembah Police Station, TNI members,\nofficials from Tanah Putih Subdistrict, village heads, and local\nresidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarrying out direct firefighting at the fire location using\nfirefighting equipment such as water pump engines and hoses operated by\ncombined personnel,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>After the fire was extinguished, the combined team continued cooling\noperations on the burned land areas by spraying and soaking the soil,\nparticularly on peatland, to ensure no embers remained.<\/p>\n<p>Cooling efforts were conducted because faint smoke still appeared at\nseveral points. The cooling process continued to ensure all embers were\ncompletely extinguished and undetected on the Lancang Kuning\nDashboard.<\/p>\n<p>Rohil Police, together with relevant agencies, also increased patrols\nand issued appeals to residents not to clear land by burning to prevent\nfuture forest and land fires. Additionally, officers provided education\nto communities to help prevent karhutla.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIssuing appeals and conducting outreach to residents around the\nlocation not to clear land by burning, which can trigger karhutla, and\nif found to have committed such offences, they will face sanctions under\napplicable law,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
