Heavy rain caused 30 cm flooding on the Jagorawi Toll Road near Cibubur on Saturday, leading to traffic jams in both directions and limited accessibility on certain lanes. Jasamarga officials identified the issue as overflow from drainage channels due to high water volume and are clearing debris while managing traffic. The rest area at KM 10 towards Bogor was temporarily closed for safety, highlighting ongoing challenges in maintaining toll infrastructure amid adverse weather.

JAKARTA - Flooding on the Jagorawi Toll Road went viral on social
media on Saturday (21/3/2026). According to the Instagram account @kabarcibubur24jam, the toll road
section was inundated with floodwater and battered by rain. As a result,
four-wheeled vehicles had to navigate through heavy rain and flooding.
Additionally, the post indicated that due to the flooding, the Jagorawi
Toll Road around Cibubur was congested in both directions. “Puddles were
observed starting at 16.45 WIB. Shortly afterwards, RO1 JMT officers
along with Jasamarga Tollroad Maintenance (JMTM) were at the location
and carried out initial handling measures and identification of the
cause of the puddling,” said Panji Satriya in a written statement on
Saturday evening. Panji is the Marketing and Communication Department
Head of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division. Field
observations by officers revealed that the puddling was caused by water
volume exceeding the drainage channel capacity due to high inflow rates.
Consequently, the water in the channels overflowed and flooded the toll
road. Currently, JMTM officers are cleaning rubbish at the drainage
locations to accelerate water flow. Meanwhile, Jasamarga Tollroad
Operator (JMTO) officers are also regulating traffic at the puddle site.
“Currently, the outer shoulder, lane 1, and lane 2 cannot be passed
temporarily, while lanes 3 and 4 remain accessible to road users,” said
Panji. Furthermore, puddling was also observed at the rest and service
area (TIP) or rest area at KM 10 on the Jagorawi Toll Road towards
Bogor. “Therefore, at the discretion of the police, starting at 19.30
WIB, the TIP at KM 10 on the Jagorawi Toll Road towards Bogor was
temporarily closed until all facilities can operate normally again,”
explained Panji. “Jasa Marga apologises for the inconvenience
experienced during the handling of the puddling,” added Panji.
",
