3-year reunion for Mega and Gus Dur<\/p>\n

For three years, former president Abdurrahman \"Gus Dur\" Wahid has
\nnot made any attempt to mend his relationship with Megawati
\nSoekarnoputri after she replaced her as president in July 2001.<\/p>\n
On Monday however, he decided to meet with Megawati, whom he
\nhas often described as his younger sister, with a request for her
\nto cook nasi goreng!<\/p>\n
Megawati patiently served Gus Dur during their two-and-a-half
\nhour meeting at her private residence on Jl. Kebagusan, South
\nJakarta. Megawati acted like the perfect younger sister for Gus
\nDur by serving him black coffee, snacks and coconut with her own
\nhands as requested by the former president.<\/p>\n
\"They acted as if nothing had ever happened between them, it
\nwas really like two close friends who met each other again after
\na long time,\" a source said.<\/p>\n
She also enjoyed Gus Dur's jokes.<\/p>\n
\"Is there anything else that you want Mas Dur?\" a close aide
\nof Megawati, quoted the President as asking the founder of the
\nNational Awakening Party (PKB).<\/p>\n
The source, who asked not to be named, acknowledged that
\nMegawati was probably unaware of Gus Dur's characteristic wish
\n(for nasi goreng) when he would visit her at her residence after
\nthey had some problems. After eating usually their relationship
\nwould improve because Gus Dur would crack many jokes.<\/p>\n
\"May I have nasi goreng?\" Gus Dur asked Megawati.<\/p>\n
She had to apologize for not being able to fulfill his
\nrequest, because she was unable to cook it for him.<\/p>\n
\"He was rather disappointed,\" said the source.<\/p>\n
Is it a sign that their relationship will not return to normal
\nahead of the Sept. 20 runoff?<\/p>\n
Megawati needs the support of PKB and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU),
\nwhich was founded by his grandfather. NU chairman Hasyim Muzadi
\nbecame Megawati's running mate despite Gus Dur's fierce
\nopposition.<\/p>\n
\"I never had any hard feelings for Mbak Mega, this is just a
\npersonal thing for me, nothing to do with any political
\nmotivation,\" Gus Dur said while leaving the residence.<\/p>",
