        "content": "<p>3 U.S. sailors detained in RP<\/p>\n<p>CEBU, Philippines (AFP): Philippine police on Tuesday filed<br>\ncriminal charges against three U.S. soldiers accused of<br>\nassaulting a Filipino taxi driver in a case which officials say<br>\ncould test newly-reinforced bilateral military ties.<\/p>\n<p>Petty Officers Michael Keys, Johnny Earl Lowerly and Shannon<br>\nTowers, all assigned with the USS Blue Ridge, were charged with<br>\nfraud and inflicting physical injuries on the driver before the<br>\ncity prosecutor's office.<\/p>\n<p>The three officers appeared at the inquest without handcuffs<br>\nafter being remanded to the custody of their superior officer.<\/p>\n<p>State prosecutors said there was no need for them to post<br>\nbail.<\/p>\n<p>They are accused of mauling a taxi driver in a fare dispute.<\/p>",
