        "content": "<p>Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has\nrecorded that consumption of 3 kilogram (kg) Liquefied Petroleum Gas\n(LPG) cylinders continues to increase every year. In response, the\ngovernment will reorganise which consumers are truly entitled to receive\nsubsidies.<\/p>\n<p>As of July 2026, consumption of 3 kg LPG has already reached 5.5\nmillion tonnes, or 63% of the 2026 target of 8.6 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of ESDM, Laode\nSulaeman, stated that the quota for LPG, particularly subsidised LPG,\nhas indeed increased from year to year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we look at it, our LPG consumption in general continues to rise\nfrom year to year. Efforts have been made to reduce the burden of this\nincreasing LPG consumption,\u201d Laode explained during a Hearing Meeting\nwith Commission XII of the House of Representatives on Wednesday\n(26\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Laode acknowledged that the distribution of 3 kg LPG remains open,\nmeaning that to this day the melon-sized LPG cylinders can still be used\nby all segments of society.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the government and PT Pertamina (Persero) will carry out a\ntransformation in regulating users of 3 kg LPG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the distribution of 3 kg LPG, since 1 March 2023, the first\nphase involved registering users of 3 kg LPG cylinders into a web-based\nsystem. That has now been implemented. The second phase is data matching\nand targeting of users of certain LPG,\u201d Laode revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Some time ago, Pertamina together with the Directorate General of\nPopulation and Civil Registration at the Ministry of Home Affairs signed\na Memorandum of Understanding to validate data on 3 kg LPG recipients.\n\u201cAll data will be strengthened before we proceed with regulating the\nclasses of society that utilise 3 kg LPG,\u201d Laode concluded.<\/p>",
