On the first day of the 2026 Ketupat Operation, only 285,000 vehicles (14 percent) of the projected 3.5 million have left Jakarta for the Eid holiday exodus, according to PT Jasa Marga's director. Traffic remains manageable without traffic engineering measures, with movement concentrated on the Trans Java Toll Route, whilst flows to Bandung and Sumatra via Merak Port have yet to show significant increases. Officials from the Transport Ministry, National Police, and toll operator are closely monitoring traffic conditions, expecting increased vehicle movement towards the end of the week.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) President Director Rivan A Purwantono
reported that vehicle movement leaving Jakarta on the first day of the
2026 Ketupat Operation reached only approximately 14 percent of the
total projected Eid holiday exodus. From an estimated 3.5 million
vehicles, approximately 285,000 vehicles had moved throughout Friday (13
March 2026).

The company president monitored traffic flow developments at the Jasa
Marga Traffic Management Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Saturday
(14 March 2026), together with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi and
National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho.
Monitoring showed that vehicle flow leaving Jakarta remained manageable
without traffic engineering implementation.

“So on this one day, as the Transport Minister stated, there is
indeed a 3.5 percent growth. From Jasa Marga’s projections regarding the
number of vehicles that have currently left Jakarta, it stands at 14
percent,” said Rivan.

He detailed that this figure was equivalent to approximately 285,000
vehicles from the total projection of vehicles that would move during
this year’s Eid holiday exodus period. In the early stages, holiday
travellers’ journeys remained dominated by vehicles heading towards the
Trans Java Toll Route.

Rivan explained that flows towards Bandung or towards Sumatra via
Merak Port had not shown significant increases on the first monitoring
day. Vehicle movement still had potential to increase over the coming
days as the peak exodus period approached.

Increased public mobility typically becomes apparent over the
weekend. “The other directions are not yet apparent, such as towards
Bandung, and the projected numbers are not yet visible. However, this is
still the first day. There is still the possibility that on Saturday and
Sunday there will be additional movement,” he said.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi directly monitored the traffic
situation from Jasa Marga’s control centre. He assessed that vehicle
flow conditions on the first day of the Ketupat Operation remained
relatively smooth despite increased vehicle volume. “This evening I,
together with the Traffic Corps Chief and PT Jasa Marga’s President
Director, observed the situation on the first day since the Ketupat
Operation and also the Eid Transport Command Post were implemented. So
far it is slightly above normal, but relatively continues to run
smoothly,” said Dudy.

National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus
Suryonugroho stated that his team continued to monitor vehicle flow
developments both on toll roads and arterial roads. Monitoring was
conducted through CCTV systems and coordination with various
stakeholders in the Ketupat Operation.

“From today’s monitoring results, traffic flow remains sufficiently
controlled. There is indeed an increase, but not yet significant,” said
Agus.

He added that the police were also monitoring public safety and order
aspects during the Eid holiday security period. Thus far, the situation
was assessed as remaining safe with no notable incidents.

This year’s Ketupat Operation involved hundreds of thousands of
National Police personnel together with various related agencies
throughout Indonesia. Security covered toll routes, arterial roads,
places of worship, tourist areas, ports, and airports.
",
