26 councillors in study trip<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Twenty-six councillors have embarked on a three-day
\nstudy trip to three provinces in connection with the regulations
\nfor gubernatorial elections starting on Wednesday, despite the
\nfact that the controversy over their foreign trip is not yet
\nover.<\/p>\n
Of the 26, six have been to Bangka-Belitung province, 11 to
\nGorontalo province and the remaining 11 to North Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
City Council chairman Edy Waluyo said the trip was aimed at
\nstudying the election regulations in the provinces, which had
\njust held elections.<\/p>\n
"The election will be the first for Jakarta that is run
\ndifferently from previous ones," he said Thursday.<\/p>\n
Councillor Syamsidar Siregar revealed the participants were
\ngiven only one ticket each and would stay in a hotel, saying that
\nthe trip was financed by the city budget.<\/p>\n
"It's not much," said Syamsidar, who declined to reveal the
\namount of money allocated for the trip.<\/p>\n
Two years ago, dozens of city officials and councillors
\nparticipated in a trip to Australia, Japan and South Africa.
\nThree councillors were recently identified as suspects as they
\nwere paid allowances for the trip, even though they did not
