        "content": "<p>24 questioned over burnt dump trucks<\/p>\n<p>Damar Harsanto, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-four people are now in police custody in connection<br>\nwith the burning of two garbage trucks at the Bantar Gebang dump<br>\nsite in Bekasi on Monday, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>They were transferred on Wednesday from the Bekasi police<br>\ndistrict to the city police detention center for further<br>\nquestioning, according to a police official.<\/p>\n<p>\"They are transferred here for security, to avoid possible<br>\nraids from those who want their release,\" said city police deputy<br>\nspokesman Comr. Alex Mandalika.<\/p>\n<p>The men have not yet been charged, however, and but being<br>\nquestioned as both witnesses and potential suspects, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The group was detained for their potential involvement in an<br>\nincident in which two garbage trucks were set ablaze and 21<br>\nothers belonging to the City Sanitary Agency were damaged.<\/p>\n<p>The trucks were attacked by locals as they were trying to dump<br>\nthe garbage in Bantar Gebang site despite the administration's<br>\ndecision to close the dump.<\/p>\n<p>The detainees would undergo examination as witnesses to probe<br>\nwhether they involved in the Monday's clash or not, Alex said.<\/p>\n<p>\"Once they are proven true, they will be becoming suspects. If<br>\nnot, we will send them home,\" Alex said.<\/p>\n<p>They might be charged with the Criminal Code article 170 for<br>\ndemolishing one's goods, Alex said. The article carries a maximum<br>\npenalty of five years and six months.<\/p>\n<p>The detention of a witness is against the law.<\/p>\n<p>Police sources said 25 people were arrested during Monday's<br>\nbacklash. Most of them were residents of the Community Unit No.<br>\n02, Sumur Batu, Bantar Gebang, Bekasi.<\/p>\n<p>Two of them, Maman and Hardoyo, were arrested for allegedly<br>\nprovoking the incident. Hardoyo was still detained at Bekasi<br>\nPolice detention center, while Maman was taken along with 23<br>\nothers to the city police.<\/p>",
