221 people caught in drug raids<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: An officer with the Jakarta Police said on Saturday
\nthat 221 people tested positive for drugs during a series of
\nraids in July.<\/p>\n
\"This two-week operation was more about persuasion as we did
\nnot detain the people but are only requiring that they regularly
\nreport to the police,\" the head of the city police's drug unit,
\nSr. Comr. Carlo Brix Tewu, was quoted as saying by
\nTempointeraktif.com.<\/p>\n
The raids carried out between July 11 and July 25 targeted a
\nnumber of discotheques and clubs in the city, including Crown,
\nMillenium, Sand, Sidney 2000, Stadium, Crown and Dragon Fly.<\/p>\n
City police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said the operation
\nwould be followed by preventive and treatment measures, as well

Locals threaten to block Bojong plant<\/p>\n
BOGOR: Residents near the Bojong waste treatment plant have
\nthreatened to block off the plant if it attempts a trial run on
\nWednesday, Detik.com reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\"We insist that the plant be relocated and refuse to allow it
\nto be operated,\" said Erwin Usman of the Indonesian Forum for the
\nEnvironment, which has been working with the Bojong residents.<\/p>\n
Bojong residents attempted to block off the entrance to the
\nplant on July 27 and July 29. In their last attempt on Friday,
\nsome 30 people from plant operator PT Wira Guna Sejahtera
\nattempted to forcibly drive the residents off.<\/p>\n
