A total of 21 participants for the position of commissioner of the\nRegional Broadcasting Commission (KPID) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)\nprovince for the 2026-2029 period have passed the competency test. Of\nthe 21 candidates proceeding to the fit and proper test stage, five are\nincumbents. Notably, one individual is a former convict of a corruption\ncrime.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll successful participants will proceed to the next stage, which is\nthe fit and proper test,\u201d said the Chairman of the Selection Team,\nAhsan\ud558\ub3c4\ub85d Khalik, on Tuesday (22\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Ahsan, commonly known as Aka, addressed the presence of the former\ncorruption convict, identified as LM. Additionally, there is a\nparticipant with the initials SFAP who is an official in a political\nparty. According to Aka, these two individuals are not prohibited from\nparticipating in the selection under Law Number 32 of 2002 concerning\nBroadcasting, nor under the Central KPI Decision Number 3 of 2024\nregarding the Guidelines for the Election of KPI Members.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must emphasise that the selection team operates based on the\nprovisions established in the regulations. We cannot impose prohibitions\nor add requirements that are not specified in the regulations,\u201d said\nAka.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Law Number 32 of 2002 still mandates substantive\nrequirements such as being authoritative, honest, fair, possessing\nirreproachable conduct, and being non-partisan, alongside the submission\nof a Police Record Certificate (SKCK).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe issue must be addressed according to applicable norms. The\nabsence of a specific prohibition against former corruption convicts\napplying does not mean all other requirements become invalid. All\nrequirements must still be met,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Aka continued, the presence of a participant suspected\nof still holding office in a political party must be viewed\nproportionally. He noted that a distinction must be made between past\nactivities and their status at the time of registration for the 2026\nselection.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that KPID members must be non-partisan and must submit\na stamped declaration of non-involvement in political parties. The\nparticipant in question has submitted such a document.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, while there is information that in 2024 they were still\nin a political party, this does not automatically prove that at the time\nof registration in 2026, the individual is still a party official. If\nthere is evidence of discrepancy during registration, that information\ncan be submitted officially for verification,\u201d explained the\nspokesperson for the NTB Provincial Government.<\/p>\n
He asserted that from the beginning of the selection, the Selection\nTeam has never ignored the track records of participants and remains\nopen to public input. Following this announcement of the competency test\nresults, the selection process will continue with the fit and proper\ntest, which will be conducted at Commission I of the NTB Regional House\nof Representatives (DPRD).<\/p>\n
\u201cIf anyone possesses valid evidence regarding criminal history or\npolitical party involvement of a participant, they are encouraged to\nsubmit their response officially to the NTB DPRD,\u201d said the Head of the\nNTB Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office.<\/p>\n
For the Selection Team, Aka added, the corridor for the selection\nprocess of KPID NTB commissioners is clear.
