The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) continues\nto strengthen its commitment to building a safe, inclusive, and\nconducive business ecosystem for MSME entrepreneurs so they can grow,\nbecome competitive, and move up a class. This effort is realised through\nthe strengthening of business legality, quality certification, business\nand product protection, as well as the expansion of integrated financing\naccess via the Festival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro (Micro\nBusiness Ease and Protection Festival).<\/p>\n
MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman affirmed that the government\ncontinues to provide various forms of assistance so that MSME\nentrepreneurs can develop sustainably. This assistance includes ease of\nlicensing, certification, financing access, and business capacity\nstrengthening, all packaged in one integrated service through the\nFestival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe strive to provide the best possible service in the context of\ngranting permits, business assistance, certification, and financing\naccess, both KUR and non-KUR. We package all these services in the\nFestival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro,\u201d said MSME Minister\nMaman Abdurrahman after delivering remarks at the festival in Balikpapan\non Wednesday (17\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Maman explained that this step is crucial given that the level of\nbusiness legality among MSMEs is still relatively low. Currently, around\n77 per cent of MSMEs in Indonesia do not yet have business legality and\nare still operating informally. To address this challenge, the Ministry\nof MSMEs is strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders,\nranging from ministries and agencies, regional governments, the banking\nsector, to the business world.<\/p>\n
This synergy is directed at accelerating the transformation and\nformalisation of micro businesses so that more MSME entrepreneurs obtain\nlegal certainty, business protection, and access to various empowerment\nprogrammes. Through these efforts, the government hopes that protection\nfor MSME entrepreneurs will become stronger while also being able to\ndrive regional economic growth more inclusively and sustainably.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause we realise that when MSMEs grow and gain massive and optimal\naccess to licensing and financing, the wheels of the regional economy\nwill also turn,\u201d said Maman.<\/p>\n
In line with this, East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas\u2019ud assessed that\nthe challenges MSMEs will face in the future are increasingly complex,\nrequiring stronger synergy from all stakeholders to push MSMEs to the\nnext level. \u201cTherefore, we must continue to encourage MSMEs to move up a\nclass. From businesses that do not yet have legality to legal\nbusinesses, from traditional businesses to those utilising digital\ntechnology, and from businesses that merely survive to those capable of\ngrowing and being competitive,\u201d said Rudy Mas\u2019ud.<\/p>\n
He also invited all stakeholders, including district and city\ngovernments in East Kalimantan, to continue presenting policies that\nfavour MSME entrepreneurs as the main drivers of the regional economy.\n\u201cHow can our MSMEs quickly move up a class so that the regional economy\nbecomes stronger, unemployment decreases, and the welfare of the\ncommunity, God willing, increases,\u201d said Rudy Mas\u2019ud.<\/p>\n
The 2026 Festival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro is being held\nagain in 10 locations across Indonesia, involving around 1,000 micro\nentrepreneurs.
