        "content": "<p>A member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives\n(DPR RI) from the Golkar Party faction, Adela Kanasya Adies, has called\non the public and business actors to participate in the 2026 Economic\nCensus organised by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). She stated that the\ncensus will serve as the foundation for data-based policymaking,\nparticularly to strengthen the empowerment of micro, small, and medium\nenterprises (MSMEs).<\/p>\n<p>Adela said economic development requires accurate data so that\npolicies taken are in line with conditions on the ground. \u201cThe Economic\nCensus is an important instrument to capture a comprehensive picture of\nIndonesia\u2019s economic condition and becomes the basis for formulating\ndevelopment policies,\u201d Adela said in her statement on Tuesday\n(4\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the 2026 Economic Census will provide the latest\noverview of the business world, from micro-enterprises to large\ncorporations, including the continuously growing digital economy.\n\u201cThrough the 2026 Economic Census, BPS will obtain a current picture of\nthe business world, from micro to large enterprises, including the\ndevelopment of the digital economy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Adela assessed that the census results will become a foothold in\nformulating evidence-based policies, including determining development\npriorities, fiscal policy, budget allocation, and evaluation of\ngovernment programmes. She added that statistical data also serves as a\nreference for the DPR RI in carrying out its legislative, budgeting, and\noversight functions. \u201cFor the DPR RI, statistical data is also an\nimportant foundation in carrying out legislative, budgeting, and\noversight functions so that every policy produced truly answers the\nneeds of the community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Adela, the 2026 Economic Census will also capture\nchanges in Indonesia\u2019s economic structure over the last decade,\nincluding the development of digital-based business sectors and sectors\nrequiring further attention. She mentioned that one of the main focuses\nof the census is to obtain more comprehensive data on MSMEs. This data\nincludes the number and characteristics of business actors, regional\ndistribution, types of businesses, level of digital technology\nutilisation, access to financing, and the various challenges faced.<\/p>\n<p>Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Indonesia\nhas around 65 million MSME units. According to Adela, data accuracy\nthrough the 2026 Economic Census is a crucial factor so that MSME\nempowerment policies can be formulated according to needs in the field.\nShe also assured the public not to worry about providing information to\nBPS officers because all data is guaranteed confidentiality in\naccordance with Law Number 16 of 1997 on Statistics and Law Number 27 of\n2022 on Personal Data Protection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet all members of the public and business actors actively\nparticipate in the 2026 Economic Census, which will end on 31 August\n2026,\u201d Adela said.<\/p>",
