        "content": "<p>200 erring foreigners deported in the first 7 months of 1997<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Immigration Office deported 200 foreigners<br>\nin the first seven months of this year for allegedly violating<br>\nimmigration regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\"The largest number were Malaysians who illegally entered<br>\nIndonesia via Nunukan (East Kalimantan) from Tawau (Sabah),\"<br>\ndepartment spokesman Mursanuddin A. Ghani told The Jakarta Post<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Mursanuddin, however, refused to give further details.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the immigration office arrested more than a dozen<br>\nwomen who were caught red-handed working as prostitutes.<\/p>\n<p>The office deported a Chinese acupuncturist yesterday arrested<br>\nlast month for misusing his business visa.<\/p>\n<p>Another foreigner, a Canadian, arrested last Friday for<br>\nillegally selling print ink, will be deported via a Japanese<br>\nAirlines flight today.<\/p>\n<p>According to the director of the department's control and<br>\nexecution unit, Zaiman Nurmatias, Canadian Benyamin Pang also<br>\npossessed an Indonesian ID card issued by the Jatiuwung district<br>\nin Tangerang.<\/p>\n<p>Pang, however, only had a two-month short visit visa, Zaiman<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese acupuncturist, Ge Shu Han, who dubbed himself \"the<br>\nGod of Needles\", was arrested on July 29 by undercover<br>\nimmigration officers, who pretended to be clients at the Cahaya<br>\nMandiri clinic on Jl. KH Zainal Arifin in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>According to spokesman Mursanuddin, the acupuncturist's visit<br>\nto Indonesia was sponsored by the owner of the clinic.<br>\nMursanuddin, however, did not disclose the identity or status of<br>\nthe owner.<\/p>\n<p>During questioning, Han said he arrived in Indonesia on July 9<br>\nusing a business visa. It was his first visit. Han showed his<br>\npaperwork which described him as professor of acupuncture in<br>\nLianing, China.<\/p>\n<p>Mursanuddin said the foreigners were arrested based on public<br>\nreports which said they had run illegal businesses without<br>\nsuitable work permits.
