        "content": "<p>A total of 20 illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from East Nusa\nTenggara (NTT) have been deported from Malaysia. They have returned to\nIndonesia and arrived in Kupang on Saturday (5\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey arrived today,\u201d said the Head of the NTT Indonesian Migrant\nWorker Protection Service Centre (BP3MI), Suratmi Hamida.<\/p>\n<p>The 20 illegal migrant workers deported from Malaysia originate from\nseveral regencies in NTT. They consist of 10 workers from Lembata, one\neach from Alor and Nagekeo, and eight from East Flores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were living in Malaysia without official documents. They were\ndeported via East Malaysia, Saban, Nunukan, and Makassar, before finally\narriving in Kupang,\u201d explained Suratmi.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival in Kupang, all the illegal migrant workers were\nimmediately placed in the BP3MI NTT shelter temporarily. This\naccommodation is provided before they are sent back to their respective\nhome regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will facilitate their return to their home areas, adjusting to\nthe ship schedules,\u201d Suratmi stated.<\/p>\n<p>Suratmi urged the people of NTT who wish to work abroad to use\nofficial channels. Working through official procedures is essential to\nensure legal protection and to avoid the risk of deportation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date, BP3MI NTT data shows that 107 deceased migrant workers have\nbeen returned to NTT; 105 of them were non-procedural, while two were\nprocessed according to official procedures,\u201d Suratmi added.<\/p>",
