"summary": "The Indonesian government, in collaboration with the Army and local communities, is accelerating the construction of suspension bridges to improve connectivity in remote areas. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that 2,500 bridges are targeted for completion by August 2026, with a total of 5,000 expected by the end of the year. The programme aims to provide isolated communities with safer access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.",
"content": "<p>Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya shared a video on his social\nmedia account on Sunday (21\/6) showcasing the progress of suspension\nbridge construction in several regions of Indonesia. The project to\nbuild thousands of bridges is the result of synergy between the\ngovernment, the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), and the community, aimed at\nenhancing connectivity to reach remote areas. In a statement\naccompanying his post, Teddy emphasised that building bridges is not\nonly about providing physical infrastructure but also about opening\nwider access and bringing new hope to residents who have long been\nhindered by geographical conditions. He explained that in many areas\nseparated by rivers for decades, the presence of a bridge can bring\nsignificant change to people\u2019s lives. Therefore, President Prabowo\nSubianto is pushing a suspension bridge development programme to create\nfaster, safer, and more equitable connectivity across the country.\nAccording to Teddy, the acceleration of bridge construction continues\nthrough close collaboration between the government, the Army, and local\ncommunities. The bridges being built serve as a solution for areas that\nhave faced access limitations for years due to difficult terrain and a\nlack of transport facilities. Teddy revealed that the government is\ntargeting the completion of 2,500 suspension bridges by August 2026,\nafter which construction will be further intensified to reach the goal\nof 5,000 bridges by the end of 2026. He added that the benefits of the\nsuspension bridges are already being felt directly by the public.\nBesides facilitating mobility, the infrastructure also eases access to\neducation, health services, and other public facilities. For the younger\ngeneration living in remote areas, Teddy noted, a bridge holds a deeper\nmeaning than just a connecting structure; it symbolises the opening of\nopportunities and a better future.<\/p>",
