The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Indonesian Youth\nNational Committee (KNPI) in North Kalimantan, together with the Orang\nIndonesia (OI) community of Tarakan, initiated a 2,026-metre Red and\nWhite flag parade in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, North Kalimantan, on\nSaturday (29\/8).<\/p>\n
KNPI North Kalimantan Secretary Sakti Abimayu said the 2026 Red and\nWhite Flag Parade, which carried the theme \u201cLiving Together Must Be\nProtected, Peace for Us Throughout the Ages\u201d, was part of the\ncommemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the\nRepublic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur main goal is to uphold the values and sense of love for peace,\nnot only among the public but also among the youth, particularly in\nBulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the moment was also a source of pride for the youth\nof North Kalimantan because the 2,026-metre Red and White flag could fly\nover the land of Bulungan through a parade with more than 1,000\nparticipants.<\/p>\n
The parade route, he continued, started from the office of the\n0903\/Bulungan Military District Command (Kodim), then proceeded along\nJalan SKIP and through Jalan Katamso to the Tugu Cinta Damai monument,\ncovering a distance of approximately four kilometres.<\/p>\n
The parade, which was officially launched by North Kalimantan\nGovernor Zainal A. Paliwang, was joined by 60 community organisations,\nassociations, youth organisations, students, and members of the\nIndonesian National Armed Forces and National Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn essence, this activity is a form of youth contribution to\nenhancing the spirit of nationalism and active youth participation in\nbuilding togetherness with the community,\u201d said Sakti.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the OI Tarakan Community Che Ageng said the Red and White\nflag parade in North Kalimantan has been held several times, and in\nBulungan Regency specifically it has now been held twice, the first\nbeing in 2022 with a flag length of 677 metres to coincide with the 77th\nAnniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, in 2026, our flag is also 2,026 metres long. Hopefully\nnext year it will continue to grow longer and more people will join the\nparade and hold the Red and White flag,\u201d Che Ageng hoped.<\/p>\n
North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang expressed appreciation\nfor the enthusiasm of the public who took part in the parade. For him,\nactivities like this are a simple way to keep the national spirit alive\nafter the 17 August commemoration.<\/p>\n
