Commission IV of the Karangasem Regional House of Representatives\n(DPRD) has highlighted the implementation of the New Student Admission\nSelection (SPMB) for the 2026\/2027 Academic Year after a number of\nprospective students were found to have not been accepted into the\nJunior High School (SMP) level. To seek clarification, Commission IV\nvisited the Karangasem Education, Youth, and Sports Agency (Disdikpora)\non Wednesday (1\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
Commission IV Chair I Wayan Sudira stated that most of the issues\nwere triggered by prospective students\u2019 errors in choosing the\nregistration pathway. As a result, they did not pass the selection at\ntheir target schools. He therefore requested that Disdikpora ensure\nstudents who failed to be accepted can promptly obtain alternative\nschool placements.<\/p>\n
\u2018The 12-year compulsory education programme must continue. No student\nshould lose the opportunity to attend school simply because they chose\nthe wrong pathway during registration,\u2019 Sudira said on Wednesday\n(1\/7\/2026). He assessed that the re-registration period, which runs\nuntil 6 July, provides an opportunity for Disdikpora to resolve the\nmatter. All prospective students who have not yet been accommodated are\nto be immediately registered and directed to schools that still have\nquotas.<\/p>\n
\u2018There are students who chose two schools but were not accepted,\npossibly because the chosen pathway was not appropriate. However,\nDisdikpora has already communicated with these students so they can get\na school according to their zone later,\u2019 Sudira added. He also noted\nthat the online SPMB, implemented for the first time in Karangasem\nRegency, needs evaluation, as some students or parents may not yet fully\nunderstand the system. He acknowledged the online SPMB has brought some\nchanges, but several obstacles were still encountered during its\nimplementation that must be addressed.<\/p>\n
\u2018After the student admission process is complete and the new academic\nyear has begun, we also plan to conduct direct evaluations at several\nschools regarding various matters,\u2019 Sudira said. Meanwhile, Head of the\nKarangasem Education, Youth, and Sports Agency (Disdikpora) I Gusti\nBagus Budiadnyana confirmed receiving reports from several parents\nregarding their children failing to be accepted at two schools\nsimultaneously. Investigations revealed the majority of cases occurred\nbecause prospective students registered through the affirmation pathway\nbut did not meet the requirements based on the National Single Social\nand Economic Data (DTSEN) verification results. This condition caused\nthem to be disqualified from the selection process at both chosen\nschools.<\/p>\n
Budiadnyana stated that there are currently around 19 prospective\nstudents who have not yet secured a place at the SMP level. Disdikpora\nwill conduct further data collection and place them in the nearest\nschools that still have capacity. \u2018We will ensure all children in\nKarangasem can still attend school.
