        "content": "<p>19 protest dismissals<\/p>\n<p>BANJARNEGARA, Central Java: Nineteen former employees of the<br>\nTulis hydropower plant project visited the local legislative<br>\ncouncil Monday to seek help over what they called arbitrary<br>\ndismissals.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters said the project manager had been unfair as<br>\nmost of them, with senior high school education, had worked for<br>\nbetween three and nine years but had been given severance pay of<br>\nonly Rp 250,000 each. Their monthly salary was Rp 183,750.<\/p>\n<p>The disgruntled men demanded that the company pay them a total<br>\nof Rp 381 million because they had not yet received their meal,<br>\nmedical and compensation allowances as stipulated by the Ministry<br>\nof Manpower.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the legislative council, Amsor, said a team<br>\nwould be set up to deal with the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters submitted written statements, copies of which<br>\nwere also sent to state-owned electricity company PLN and the<br>\nMinistry of Manpower.
