19 injured in train incident<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): At least 19 train passengers in an electric
\ntrain heading for Bogor were injured on Monday when a trolley on
\nthe train, commonly called the pantograph, got caught in wires,
\nbreaking some of them and hitting the passengers.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia
\n(KAI) Zainal Abidin said the train (photo above) came to a
\ncomplete halt on railway tracks that cross Jl. TB Simatupang in
\nSouth Jakarta that afternoon.<\/p>\n
\"The pantograph got stuck in some wires, and when they broke
\nthey hurt passengers occupying the last compartment of the
\nelectric train No. 502,\" Zainal said.<\/p>\n
As a result, four other trains on the Duren Kalibata-Tanjung
\nBarat railway line were unable to move, since the electricity was
\nturned off, Zainal said.<\/p>\n
The injured were admitted to Pasar Minggu Hospital and the
\nFatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta, as well as the Pasar Rebo
\nHospital in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
One victim at the Fatmawati Hospital remained unconscious due
\nto a serious wound in the head, Zainal said.<\/p>\n
Due to the train incident Jl. TB Simatupang experienced heavy
\ntraffic congestion as many train passengers got out and crowded
\nthe road trying to find other transportation.<\/p>\n
Another train accident occurred on Sunday last week when a
\ncommuter electric train was hit by a diesel train from behind in
\nthe Bandan-Angke area of North Jakarta, injuring three child
