        "content": "<p>A ceremony was held on Thursday (28 May) to launch the ferry route\nbetween Taiwan and Okinawa, Japan, marking the resumption of direct\nservice between Keelung and Ishigaki Island after an 18-year\nsuspension.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony in northern Taiwan\u2019s Keelung port was attended by\nofficials including legislators and city government representatives, and\nfeatured lion dance performances.<\/p>\n<p>Keelung Deputy Mayor Chiu Pei-lin stated the new service aims to\nattract more Japanese tourists to Taiwan, saying, \u2018We have prepared many\nattractive destinations and look forward to welcoming visitors.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Ishigaki Mayor Yoshitaka Nakayama said the route is not merely a\ntransport link but a bridge for broader tourism, logistics, cultural,\nand educational development. \u2018I also hope the ties between Taiwan,\nIshigaki, and the Yaeyama region will last forever,\u2019 he added during the\nceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The Yaima Line ferry is expected to connect Keelung and Ishigaki in\napproximately eight hours. For the first month of operation starting\nThursday, the operator will provide one round-trip journey per week.<\/p>\n<p>According to Keelung Port operators, regular ferry service between\nKeelung and Ishigaki operated for over 50 years before being suspended\nin 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has rejected deploying the\nSelf-Defense Forces to the Strait of Hormuz despite the US sending 2,200\nMarines from Okinawa to address Iranian threats, opting instead to\nreview legal corridors.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo and Manila signed an acquisition and cross-servicing agreement\nto facilitate defence supply sharing.<\/p>\n<p>The council will be directly led by Japan\u2019s prime minister, with the\nNational Intelligence Bureau handling operational execution.<\/p>\n<p>LPK Bahana Inspirasi Muda has deployed 26 alumni to work as\ncaregivers in Japanese hospitals and elderly care facilities.<\/p>\n<p>A recent survey in Japan revealed that 47.8% of elderly women prefer\nAI for relationship consultations, citing greater comfort and lack of\njudgment.<\/p>\n<p>On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched strikes against\nmultiple targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian\ncasualties.<\/p>",
