Celebrating Eid al-Fitr 2026 with peace and joy is the hope of flood\nvictims in Sumatra. The government, through the Task Force for\nAccelerated Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas\nPRR), is working to ensure this hope is fulfilled by providing\nincentives for moderately damaged homes (RS) and lightly damaged homes\n(RR).<\/p>\n
According to calculations by the National Disaster Management Agency\n(BNPB), 17,251 heads of households have received incentives totalling\nIDR 369.9 billion. The distribution covers 25 districts or cities across\nthree affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.<\/p>\n
The incentives aim to help flood victims in Sumatra repair their\nhomes at their original locations without relocation. Assistance is\nprovided based on damage levels: IDR 15 million for lightly damaged\nhomes (0\u201330 percent) and IDR 30 million for moderately damaged homes\n(30\u201370 percent).<\/p>\n
Satgas PRR Chairman and Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has\ncommitted to ensuring no citizens remain in evacuation tents by Eid\nal-Fitr. In addition to providing incentives, this commitment is also\ndemonstrated through efforts to accelerate relocation to temporary\nhousing (Huntara). \u201cWe hope to complete this as quickly as possible\nbefore Eid al-Fitr,\u201d said Tito on Sunday, 1 March 2026.<\/p>\n
To ensure this target is achieved, Tito has repeatedly reminded\nregional governments during his visits to Sumatra and in leadership\nmeetings to accelerate data collection and conduct accurate verification\nof the number of affected homes. This data is subsequently validated\nthrough levels to expedite the distribution of home repair\nassistance.<\/p>\n
The highest incentives were provided to Aceh, as it was identified as\nthe most severely affected province. A total of 15,759 heads of\nhouseholds spread across 12 districts or cities have received assistance\ntotalling IDR 341.1 billion. Of these, 8,779 have lightly damaged homes\nand 6,980 have moderately damaged homes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, its neighbour North Sumatra recorded receiving these\nincentives for approximately IDR 10.7 billion. This figure was\ndistributed to 535 heads of households, comprising 357 with lightly\ndamaged homes and 178 with moderately damaged homes across 4 districts\nor cities.<\/p>\n
In West Sumatra, assistance has been provided to 957 heads of\nhouseholds spread across 9 districts or cities. Of these, 705 homes are\nheavily damaged and 252 are moderately damaged, with total assistance\nvalued at approximately IDR 18.1 billion.<\/p>\n
The remainder will continue to be expedited by the Satgas PRR in\ncoordination with ministries, agencies, and regional governments.\nCurrently, approximately 73,000 housing units have been identified as\nsuffering light, moderate, or severe damage.<\/p>\n
Flood victims with severely damaged homes will be provided with\ntemporary housing (Huntara). This measure is to prepare safe and\nadequate dwellings for affected residents whilst awaiting completion of\npermanent housing construction (Huntap).<\/p>\n
As of 1 March 2026, Satgas PRR data recorded 11,189 temporary housing\nunits, or 61 percent of the target 18,253 units, completed across the\nthree affected provinces. Meanwhile, for permanent housing (Huntap), the\ngovernment is targeting construction of 36,669 units.<\/p>\n
Support from the Ministry of Public Works, BNPB, Danantara Indonesia,\nprovincial and district or city governments, as well as the TNI and\nNational Police, play an important role in ensuring affected residents\ncan soon occupy safe and adequate housing under the integrated\ncoordination of the Satgas PRR.<\/p>\n
