160 RI migrant workers arrested in Malaysia<\/p>\n

Police said on Monday they detained more than 160 Indonesian
\nmigrant workers and were hunting for a gang leader after three
\nmen were stabbed to death during weekend clashes between rival
\ngroups at a Malaysian construction site.<\/p>\n
Two gangs of migrant laborers at a building site in Klang, 40
\nkilometers west of Kuala Lumpur, clashed twice on Saturday, state
\npolice chief Abu Bakar Mustafa said.<\/p>\n
In the first brawl early on Saturday, one man was slashed to
\ndeath; in the second fight about 11 hours later, two men died
\nfrom similar wounds, Abu Bakar was cited as saying by the
\nnational news agency, Bernama.<\/p>\n
The brawls were believed to have erupted over a dispute about
\nthe allocation of key jobs at the site, he said.<\/p>\n
More than 250 police descended on the site on Sunday,
\narresting 164 suspects and seizing a variety of weapons including
\nswords, jungle knives and spears, Abu Bakar said.<\/p>\n
Police were searching for an alleged gang leader known by the
\naliases Frankie, Tamrin and the \"one-eyed warrior,\" because of a
\nscar over one eye, Abu Bakar said.<\/p>\n
Migrant workers, especially from neighboring Indonesia, are
\nplentiful in the construction sector in Malaysia, one of
\nSoutheast Asia's richest nations and a magnet for immigrants from
\nthe region's poorer and less stable areas.<\/p>\n
But fights between rival gangs at communities housing migrant
\nworkers are common. The government blames illegal foreign workers
\nfor crime in the communities, and periodically launches
\ncrackdowns against undocumented arrivals.<\/p>",
