16 workers suffer food poisoning<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: At least 16 workers at the Carrefour hypermarket in
\nCempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, suffered from food poisoning and
\nwere rushed to the nearby Islamic Hospital on Friday night.<\/p>\n
The workers vomited and felt itchy after eating fried fish
\nduring their dinner at about 7 p.m. at the hypermarket's employee
\ncanteen.<\/p>\n
"Probably, it was caused by spoiled fish provided by our
\ncatering firm," Carrefour's corporate and public relations
\nmanager Triyono Prijosoesilo told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Triyono said seven workers had returned home after being
\ntreated, while the remaining nine were still at the hospital.<\/p>\n
He said police had questioned three workers and the catering
\nfirm's employees in regards the food poisoning.<\/p>\n
"Maybe we will terminate our contract with the catering firm.
\nAlthough the firm is licensed by the Ministry of Health, the
\nincident would be considered as the catering firm's mistake," he
\nsaid, adding that the incident did not influence the operation of
\nthe Carrefour Cempaka Putih hypermarket.<\/p>\n
Last year, around 150 workers of Carrefour in Lebak Bulus,
\nSouth Jakarta, also suffered food poisoning and were rushed to
\nthe nearby Fatmawati hospital. --JP<\/p>",
