        "content": "<p>16 countries to enter Jakarta Open<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Sixteen countries will compete in the Jakarta<br>\nOpen, part of Asian Tour Beach Volleyball championships, at<br>\nSenayan Sport Center from July 11 to July 13.<\/p>\n<p>Teams from ASEAN countries, New Zealand, India and Australia<br>\nwill be among the competitors.<\/p>\n<p>There will be US$20,000 in cash prizes - $10,000 for the best<br>\nmen's team and $10,000 for the best women's team.<\/p>\n<p>Spectators can watch the two-day tournament for free.<\/p>\n<p>The Asian Beach Volley Council's chairwoman, Rita Subowo, said<br>\nyesterday the Jakarta Open was held to prepare Indonesia's beach<br>\nvolleyball teams for the coming 19th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games<br>\nwhich will be held here in October and the Sydney Olympics 2000.<\/p>\n<p>\"This tournament will serve as an evaluation for the<br>\nIndonesian team for the coming SEA Games and the possible<br>\nparticipation of Indonesia at the Olympic Games,\" Rita said.<\/p>\n<p>Rita said she hoped the Jakarta Open would become a regular<br>\nevent but that this was up to the Indonesian Volleyball<br>\nAssociation.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, as the host, will have six men's teams and four<br>\nwomen's teams.<\/p>\n<p>Thailand will send two men's and two women's teams. Malaysia,<br>\nNew Zealand, the Philippines and Singapore will send one men's<br>\nteam, while Australia will send three women's teams, India and<br>\nthe Philippines two, and Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore one.<\/p>\n<p>Local TV network TPI will broadcast live the two-day<br>\ntournament and televise highlights from 12 beach volley<br>\ntournaments until the SEA Games.<\/p>\n<p>TPI spokesman Fezarsnoor said each of the 12 highlights<br>\npackages would be aired for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\"The airing of the 12 packages will start on July 29 until the<br>\nSEA Games from Oct. 11 to Oct. 19.
