1,500 workers rally in Tangerang<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: some 1500 workers of PT Indorama, a garment
\nproducer on Jl. Imam Bonjol in Tangerang, staged a rally at the
\nmunicipal administration office on Tuesday, demanding an
\nimprovement to their welfare.<\/p>\n
Accompanied by Tangerang Independent Association of Workers
\n(PBI) coordinator Aat Sukmana, the women workers arrived at the
\noffice on Monday evening, spent the night there and staged the
\nrally on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
\"We have repeatedly discussed our demands with the
\ncompany management and made several agreements, but they've never
\nimplemented them,\" Sukmana said.<\/p>\n
He said that the workers had taken their case to the municipal
\nmanpower agency and the legislative body, but the company
\nmanagement still refused to fulfill their demands.<\/p>\n
\"We have now come to this office because we believe the
\nadministration has the power to make the company's leaders,
\nCH Yun and Susana, approve our demands,\" he said. -- JP<\/p>",
