        "content": "<p>1,500 teachers to get promotion<\/p>\n<p>PURWOKERTO, Central Java: The Central Java deputy governor,<br>\nAchmad, said on Thursday the provincial administration would<br>\npromote some 1,500 contract-based teachers at state-run<br>\nelementary schools in the province to permanent status.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are 15,000 teachers in the province who have<br>\nbeen employed for 10 years on a contract basis, receiving a<br>\nmonthly salary of Rp 100,000.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have to swallow a bitter pill because we can only hire 10<br>\npercent of them because of financial constraints, but those who<br>\nhave been teaching for more than five years are our priority,\"<br>\nAchmad said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the administration would provide an additional<br>\nmonthly allowance of Rp 50,000 for temporary teaching and<br>\nadministrative staff.
