15 years sought for BCA robber<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A prosecutor asked the Central Jakarta District Court
\non Monday to sentence a man to 15 years imprisonment for his role
\nin a Rp 160 million robbery attempt that resulted in the death of
\na police officer and injuries to a bank customer.<\/p>\n
Defendant Agung Wibowo, 30, along with Ari Wibowo, Rudi and
\nDanu robbed Dani Sukanta on Oct. 25 last year, after the victim
\nwithdrew money from the Bank Central Asia (BCA) branch in Bungur,
\nCentral Jakarta, according to prosecutor Wahyu Utari.<\/p>\n
Danu, who was assigned to observe bank clients who withdrew
\nmoney at the bank, told his accomplices, who were waiting outside
\nthe building, that Dani Sukanta had taken out Rp 160 million.<\/p>\n
Riding two motorcycles, they approached Dani as he left the
\nbank. Rudi shot Dani in the leg while Ari got off the motorbike
\nand took Dani's briefcase containing the money. However, Dani's
\ncolleague, who was waiting in the parking lot, saw the incident,
\nand rammed his motorbike into the one ridden by Ari.<\/p>\n
First. Adj. Insp. Slamet Riyanto and Chief Brig. Nisma Purba,
\nwho were guarding the bank, came to help, but Rudi shot Slamet to
\ndeath. Ari was shot by Nisma, and the police recovered the money.<\/p>\n
Ari died later but Rudi and Danu were able to flee and are
