The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has disclosed\nthe testimony of a survivor from the incident in Puncak Regency, Central\nPapua, on 14 April 2026.<\/p>\n
Head of the Komnas HAM Papua Secretariat, Fritz Ramandey, stated that\nthis testimony was obtained after his organisation interviewed the\nindividual.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe person in question did not hold back in stating that \u2018the one\nwho shot me was a soldier in uniform\u2019,\u201d Fritz said during a virtual\nappearance at a press conference at Komnas HAM in Jakarta on Thursday\n(23\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
Fritz explained that the firefight occurred on 13 April 2026,\nescalating to its peak on 14 April 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the incident, there was a meeting among us, and according to\nrecords, 15 people died, and there are 5 people whose injuries we have\nonly recently been able to verify,\u201d Fritz said.<\/p>\n
Of the five survivors, Komnas HAM has so far managed to meet and\ninterview only one.<\/p>\n
The female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and is\ncurrently being treated at Dian Harapan Hospital.<\/p>\n
Head of Information for the TNI Habema Operational Command,\nLieutenant Colonel Infantry Wirya Arthadiguna, stated that TNI personnel\nwere not involved in the shooting that killed a child in Jigiunggi\nVillage, Sinak District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was no activity by TNI soldiers in Jigiunggi Village at the\ntime of the shooting incident involving the child,\u201d Wirya said in an\nofficial press release from Koops Habema, as reported by ANTARA on\nMonday (20\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to Wirya, two separate shooting incidents occurred on the\nsame day, Tuesday (14\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first incident took place on 14 April 2026 in Kembru Village,\nPapua, where, based on community reports, there was a presence of the\nOPM armed group in the area,\u201d the official press release stated.<\/p>\n
Wirya continued that security forces immediately proceeded to the\nlocation to conduct an inspection.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving at the site, the apparatus came under gunfire from the\nOPM group.<\/p>\n
Following that, the apparatus seized several pieces of evidence\nbelonging to the perpetrators of the shooting.<\/p>\n
