        "content": "<p>15 forestry concessions revoked<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Forestry has revoked concessions held by 15<br>\ncompanies for their failure to develop industrial timber<br>\nplantations.<\/p>\n<p>Suharyanto, the ministry's director general for the<br>\nsupervision of forestry production, said the companies included<br>\nPT Kiani Hutani Lestari in East Kalimantan, which is owned by<br>\njailed tycoon Mohammad \"Bob\" Hasan, and PT Menara Hutan Buana in<br>\nCentral Kalimantan, which is owned by former President Soeharto's<br>\nstepbrother, Probosutedjo.<\/p>\n<p>The other affected companies are PT Acehnusa Indrapuri (Aceh),<br>\nPT Adindo Hutani Lestari (East Kalimantan), PT Tusam Hutani<br>\nLestari (Aceh), PT Rimba Wawasan Permai (Aceh), PT Rimba Timur<br>\nSentosa (Aceh), PT Surya Hutani Jaya (East Kalimantan), PT<br>\nIntraca Hutani Lestari (East Kalimantan), PT Wana Tani Lestari<br>\n(Southeast Sulawesi), PT Hutan Barumun (North Sumatra), PT<br>\nAnangga Pundinasa (East Kalimantan), PT Rimba Equator Permai<br>\n(West Kalimantan), and PT Silva Inhutani Lampung (Lampung).<\/p>\n<p>Suharyanto was quoted by Antara as saying that the companies<br>\nhad been awarded concessions covering a total area of 989,079<br>\nhectares, but as of Nov. 5 of this year they had managed only to<br>\ndeveloped industrial timber plantations covering 188,950<br>\nhectares, despite the fact that the government had provided them<br>\nwith loans.<\/p>\n<p>He said the companies should repay their loans within 30 days.<br>\nOtherwise, the government would take legal action against them.<br>\n-- JP<\/p>",
