        "content": "<p>14 killed in train derailment<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): At least 14 people died and dozens of others<br>\nwere injured when a cargo train derailed at Jembatan Tinggi,<br>\nLembah Anai, West Sumatra on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the derailment remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that the use of the railway in the area has<br>\nrisen in the past week due to the closure of main roads<br>\nconnecting Bukittinggi and Padang Panjang with Padang Pariaman<br>\nand the provincial capital of Padang.<\/p>\n<p>The roads have been closed since Monday for repairs and are<br>\nnot expected to be open again until Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The train, which was transporting coal, was heading for Kayu<br>\nTanam in Padang Pariaman municipality from Padang Panjang.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the victims, teenagers and students, were said to have<br>\nbeen crushed to death by the cargo.<\/p>\n<p>A policeman in Padang Pariaman, Warrant Officer Azharem, said<br>\ndespite the availability of regular passenger trains many still<br>\nsneak rides on cargo trains which are not designed to carry<br>\npassengers.<\/p>\n<p>\"They sit or stand in the space between the cars,\" he<br>\nexplained.
