14 homes razed in fire<\/p>\n
MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: At least 14 homes in Bondo
\nBoghila village, Laura district, West Sumba regency, were razed
\nby fire on Tuesday morning, an official said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Head of Bondo Boghila village Bora Saing, whose home was also
\ndestroyed in the fire, said there were no fatalities, but that he
\nhad seen a group of men near his house prior to the incident.<\/p>\n
\"One man suddenly yelled payawau (besiege). The other men
\nsurrounded my home and forced me to leave,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"I watched them set my kitchen on fire and then they
\nvandalized my home as I refused to leave.\"<\/p>\n
Dismissing rumors that the fire was initiated by residents
\nfrom neighboring Tana Righu district, Bora identified the
\nperpetrators as Bondo Boghila villagers.<\/p>\n
\"There has been no conflict between residents of Laura and
\nTana Righu districts,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Separately, West Sumba regent Thomas Langgar called on
\nresidents to remain calm and not become easily provoked.
