        "content": "<p>The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Agency (BB TNBTS) has detained\n13 individuals who illegally climbed Mount Semeru. The hikers were\napprehended by officers during two separate monitoring and enforcement\noperations conducted in the Lumajang Regency and Malang Regency\nareas.<\/p>\n<p>BB TNBTS Head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha explained that this\nenforcement action represents the national park\u2019s firm commitment to\nprotecting the conservation area, while also anticipating safety hazards\nfor climbers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, we urge the public to comply with all applicable\nregulations and to refrain from climbing via illegal routes or entering\nareas that are currently closed,\u201d Rudijanta stated on Tuesday\n(16\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The first monitoring and enforcement operation took place in the\nRanupani National Park Management Resort (RPTN) area, Lumajang Regency.\nAt this location, officers detained two individuals.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the investigation, both had recklessly climbed illegally via\nthe Ayek-Ayek route on 13 June 2026. One of them was even found to have\nconducted a prior route survey in May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Their escape ended after they attempted to evade the Registered Mount\nSemeru Climbing Assistants (PPGST) during their descent. They fled into\na local resident\u2019s plantation before finally being captured by the\ncommunity and handed over to officers.<\/p>",
