        "content": "<p>The government is accelerating the construction of Kopdes Merah Putih\nvillage cooperatives as part of efforts to strengthen the village\neconomy and expand public access to affordable staple goods. Head of the\nGovernment Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, revealed that\nas of 8 June 2026, 12,232 Kopdes Merah Putih outlets had been physically\ncompleted and are now entering the operational preparation phase. \u201cAs of\n8 June 2026, 1,061 units are operational, spread across two provinces,\nnamely 530 units in East Java and 531 units in Central Java. All were\nsymbolically inaugurated by the President in Nglawak Village, Nganjuk,\nEast Java, on 16 May,\u201d Qodari said during a press conference on\nWednesday, 10 June 2026. He explained that the development of Kopdes\nMerah Putih continues to show significant progress. Based on data from\nPT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero) as the implementing contractor,\nthere are currently 23,010 sites under construction across various\nregions of Indonesia. The government is targeting the construction of a\ntotal of 80,000 units by 2029. Currently, around 70,000 other units are\nstill in the construction or land mapping stages. Qodari explained that\nKopdes Merah Putih is designed as a centre of village economic activity\nperforming three main functions: production, distribution, and community\nservices. On the production side, Kopdes Merah Putih acts as an offtaker\nof agricultural produce, providing market certainty for farmers so they\nno longer depend on middlemen. On the distribution side, Kopdes Merah\nPutih serves as a village logistics centre that channels subsidised and\nnon-subsidised goods to remote areas with the support of the PT Pos\nIndonesia (Persero) network. \u201cFrom the services side, Kopdes Merah Putih\nfunctions as a distribution point for social assistance, a centre for\nsubsidised financial distribution, as well as a vehicle for empowering\nvillage MSMEs,\u201d Qodari clarified. He added that the presence of Kopdes\nMerah Putih also provides direct benefits to the community through more\naffordable prices for staple goods.<\/p>",
