        "content": "<p>The Bogor Regency Government, West Java, has taken decisive action in\nflood disaster mitigation efforts by demolishing 118 illegal street\nvendor (PKL) stalls on the banks of the Angke River, Kemang District.\nThis enforcement is part of a programme to normalise rivers and\nirrigation channels in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Public Order Division of the Bogor Regency Satpol PP,\nRhama Khodara, revealed that the demolition operation was carried out\ngradually over five days, from 26 to 30 June 2026. The primary targets\nof the enforcement were structures standing on state land without\nofficial permits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA total of 118 street vendor stalls were regulated and demolished.\nThese buildings were unauthorised,\u201d Rhama stated in Cibinong on Tuesday\n(30\/6).<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the Bogor Regency Satpol PP, hundreds of these\nillegal structures are spread across three villages within the Kemang\nDistrict. During the implementation, officers adjusted the demolition\nmethods to suit the structure and physical condition of the buildings.\n\u201cIt depended on the condition of the buildings. Some were demolished\nusing heavy machinery, while others were dismantled manually,\u201d Rhama\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>Rhama emphasised that the presence of these stalls violated\nregulations as they occupied irrigation channels and road reserves\n(rumija). This was identified as a major obstacle in the river\nnormalisation process currently being pursued by the local\ngovernment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe street vendor buildings stand on irrigation channels and road\nreserves. Therefore, this is also part of the effort to normalise\nirrigation channels to reduce flood risks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Bogor Regency Government aims that through this land clearing,\nthe water flow in the Angke River can return to a smooth state and the\nfunction of irrigation channels can be optimised. This step is expected\nto significantly minimise the potential for stagnant water and flooding\nthat frequently threatens the Kemang District during periods of high\nrainfall intensity.<\/p>",
