A total of 11 substations owned by PT PLN (Persero) East Nusa\nTenggara Regional Main Unit (UIW NTT) were affected by a magnitude 7.7\nearthquake in Nagekeo. PLN has confirmed that all of these substations\nhave now returned to normal operation.<\/p>\n
Recovery was carried out by PLN by deploying all resources to\naccelerate the restoration of the electricity system following the\nearthquake.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll PLN teams are working tirelessly in the field. We are\nprioritising the restoration of vital facilities first so that disaster\nresponse and basic services for the public can run normally. Our\ncommitment is to restore electricity supply as quickly and safely as\npossible for all communities,\u201d Eko stressed through a press release on\nSunday (16\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
In addition to substations, the earthquake also affected the\ndistribution network. Of the total 3,478 distribution substations\naffected, 3,059 substations, or around 88 percent, have resumed\noperation. The restoration has allowed electricity supply to be\nreconnected to around 467,000 customers.<\/p>\n
Eko said PLN personnel are still working in the field to restore the\nentire electricity system to 100 percent. Teams are also conducting\nsweeps and repairs of distribution networks affected by landslides and\nbroken poles.<\/p>\n
PLN prioritised the restoration of electricity supply for vital\nfacilities, especially health and transport facilities. The successful\nrestoration of transmission lines and substations was one of the keys to\naccelerating electricity supply to these public facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cTransport facilities such as airports and health service facilities\nare the top priority,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
One facility confirmed to have regained reliable electricity supply\nis Bajawa Regional Hospital. The electricity supply is needed to support\nmedical services and treatment of earthquake victims.<\/p>\n
According to Eko, PLN teams are currently continuing to conduct\nsweeps and repairs on distribution networks affected by landslides and\nbroken poles.<\/p>\n

Director of Bajawa Regional Hospital Heronimus Due appreciated PLN\u2019s\npreparedness in maintaining electricity supply at the hospital.\nAccording to him, electricity reliability is very important to support\npatient care and emergency medical procedures.<\/p>\n
