        "content": "<p>10,000 to walk, promote tourism<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Around 10,000 Jakartans are expected to join a mass walk on<br>\nSunday morning from City Hall to the Hotel Indonesia traffic<br>\ncircle, vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>The event is organized by the Indonesian Tourism Community's<br>\n(MPI) Jakarta chapter to commemorate World Tourism Day, which<br>\nfell on Sept. 27.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is one of our efforts to recover the image of Jakarta<br>\nfollowing a bomb attack in front of the Australian Embassy,\" said<br>\nthe chapter chairwoman, Herna P. Danuningrat.<\/p>\n<p>She said the campaign was also meant to raise the public's<br>\nawareness on the importance of participating in the drive to<br>\npromote Jakarta as a tourist destination.<\/p>\n<p>\"People can take part in some measures to make the city secure<br>\nand clean. That will be a great help for the recovery of the<br>\nbusiness,\" Herna added.<\/p>\n<p>The walk will be officially started by Governor Sutiyoso from<br>\nCity Hall on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan at 6:30 a.m. Participants<br>\nwill walk along Jl. Thamrin before encircling Hotel Indonesia<br>\ntraffic circle and finish at the Office of State Minister of<br>\nTourism and Culture on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Jakartans will be able to enjoy tanjidor<br>\n(native Betawi orchestra) performance accompanied with ondel-<br>\nondel (giant effigies clad in Betawi costumes).<\/p>\n<p>Each participant will hold a colorful balloon during the walk.<br>\nThe organizer will also provide five trees, known as trees of<br>\nhope, where participants can place colorful papers to express<br>\ntheir hopes and wishes to the development of the country's<br>\ntourism.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the walk, the organizer will also hold various<br>\nprograms at the finish line, including a dance session and a<br>\nbazaar featuring street vendors with handicrafts and traditional<br>\nBetawi food, such as ketupat sayur (caked rice cooked with<br>\ncoconut milk and served with side dishes), nasi uduk (rice<br>\nsteamed in coconut milk and served with side dishes) and kerak<br>\ntelor (pancake made of glutinous rice).<\/p>\n<p>Participants will also have a chance to win two flight tickets<br>\nfrom Jakarta-Bali-Jakarta in a lucky draw.<\/p>",
