        "content": "<p>1,000 executives to join study programs in Taiwan<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The government will send 1,000 executives from<br>\nsmall businesses and cooperatives to Taiwan this year for<br>\napprenticeship and comparative study programs, a minister said.<\/p>\n<p>\"The programs, made in the spirit of the Asia Pacific Economic<br>\nCooperation (APEC), will enable our young business people to<br>\nstudy Taiwan's success in developing small industrial entities,\"<br>\nMinistry of Cooperatives and Small Enterprises Subiakto<br>\nTjakrawerdaya told Commission VII of the House of Representatives<br>\nin a hearing yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The programs, which will be held every year, will be fully<br>\nfinanced by the Taiwanese administration and private business<br>\nparties, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the programs will take several months of in-<br>\nhouse apprenticeship and management studies.<\/p>\n<p>\"We require candidates, who will take part in these programs,<br>\nto have a high standard of education and business experience,\" he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\"The candidates should be university graduates, not more than<br>\n30 years old,\" he said. \"And we prefer unmarried candidates.\"<\/p>\n<p>Subiakto said he had instructed provincial offices of the<br>\nMinistry of Cooperatives and Small Enterprises throughout the<br>\ncountry to send in their potential candidates for preliminary<br>\nscreening of the programs.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have so far finalized the applications of 50 candidates,\"<br>\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said that upon completion of the preliminary<br>\nscreening of candidates, his ministry will sign a memorandum of<br>\nunderstanding on the apprenticeship and comparative study<br>\nprograms with the Taiwanese parties.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan, a member of the 18-member APEC forum, plans to provide<br>\ncapital for the participants of the apprenticeship programs.<\/p>\n<p>The APEC forum groups Australia, Canada, China, Chile, Hong<br>\nKong, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South Korea,<br>\nTaiwan and the United States as well as the six members of the<br>\nAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations -- Brunei, Indonesia,<br>\nMalaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
