Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar)\nhas deployed 100 trucks to address rubbish piles on Jalan Pangeran\nTubagus Angke in Grogol Petamburan, as well as at the temporary waste\ndisposal sites (TPSS) Jembatan Lima and Jembatan Besi in Tambora, on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the rubbish buildup\noccurred due to technical constraints and changes in the waste disposal\nschedule at the Bantar Gebang Landfill (TPA).<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, there was a technical hitch in transporting waste to\nBantar Gebang, leading to an extraordinary accumulation of rubbish.\nHowever, thanks to policies from the Environment Agency and its\nsub-district offices, today 100 trucks have been mobilised to resolve\nthe backlog of waste issues,\u201d Iin said when contacted in Jakarta on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
In addition to tackling the rubbish piles, the city government is\nalso addressing severely silted drainage channels caused by mud and\nwaste sediments.<\/p>\n
Iin noted that, given the area\u2019s vulnerability to flooding from the\nKali Angke overflow, they plan to hold an integrated mass community\nservice event after Eid al-Fitr.<\/p>\n
As a long-term measure, they will optimise the sorting of organic\nwaste at the source, including through biopore holes along garden paths\nso that leaf waste no longer needs to be sent to Bantar Gebang but can\ninstead be processed into compost and aid water infiltration.<\/p>\n
\u201cLeaf waste should no longer be dumped at Bantar Gebang. We will\ncreate biopore infiltration holes along garden paths. The leaf waste\nwill be chopped and inserted there to become organic fertiliser while\nhelping with water absorption during the rainy season,\u201d she\nconcluded.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Environmental Agency (Kasudin\nLH), Achmad Hariadi, explained that they have coordinated with the\nTambora Environmental Task Force to implement a \u201cblitz\u201d strategy to\naccelerate cleaning efforts.<\/p>\n
He added that this strategy was adopted to overcome fleet\nlimitations. While conducting blitz operations at critical points like\nTambora and Jelambar Baru, he assured that routine services on protocol\nroutes would continue uninterrupted.<\/p>\n
Regarding the buildup in Jelambar Baru, Achmad emphasised that he had\nissued reprimands to on-site supervisors to prevent similar incidents,\nnoting that the area is a main transit route.<\/p>\n
\u201cJelambar Baru is a priority transit point.
