        "content": "<p>Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari\nhas stated that the 100 Gigawatt Peak (GWp) Solar Power Plant (PLTS)\nprogramme is not merely a target on paper, but a concrete step by the\ngovernment to build energy independence while strengthening the national\neconomy.<\/p>\n<p>Qodari explained that the commencement of the 100 GWp PLTS programme\nis not simply about setting targets, but rather a tangible step towards\nbuilding new, stronger, more independent and sustainable energy sources\nfor Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commencement of the 100 Gigawatt Peak (GWp) Solar Power Plant\nprogramme is not merely about setting targets. This is a concrete step\nto build new energy sources that are stronger, more independent and\nsustainable for Indonesia,\u201d said Qodari in his statement in Jakarta on\nMonday, 31 August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>This step, Qodari said, has already begun to be realised. On 25\nAugust 2026, President Prabowo Subianto conducted the groundbreaking for\nsolar power plant development with a total capacity of 5.3 GWp spread\nacross 14 locations in six provinces, with the main activity centred in\nJembrana, Bali.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis shows that the government is not stopping at rhetoric about\nenergy independence. We are beginning to build it in a real, gradual and\nmeasurable way,\u201d said Qodari.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the 100 GWp PLTS programme is an important part of\nefforts to strengthen national energy security while reducing dependence\non fossil fuels. By harnessing Indonesia\u2019s solar energy potential,\nnational energy needs are expected to be increasingly met from\ndomestically available resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, for the government, the transition towards clean energy is\nnot only about reducing emissions. More than that, the energy transition\nmust bring benefits that can be felt directly by the public and provide\nadded value for the national economy,\u201d said Qodari.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has recorded that this\nprogramme is projected to have potential savings of up to Rp73.9\ntrillion each year. At the same time, emissions can be reduced by up to\n140.16 million tonnes of CO2, and around 5.5 million jobs could\npotentially be created, particularly through the development and\nstrengthening of supporting industries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the development of the 100 Gigawatt Peak PLTS will not\nstop at the construction of power plants. We want to build a national\nsolar energy ecosystem that grows from upstream to downstream,\u201d said\nQodari.<\/p>",
