10 projects to start at Bekasi anniversary<\/p>\n
BEKASI, West Java (JP): Bekasi Regent Moch. Djamhari will
\ncelebrate the regency's 46th anniversary tomorrow by inaugurating
\n10 projects worth Rp 19 billion (US$8.5 million).<\/p>\n
The projects include various buildings for social and
\neducational purposes such as schools, markets, a waste processing
\ninstallation, bridge and local broadcasting.<\/p>\n
\"The ceremony will take place at one of the project sites, the
\nnurse's dormitory of the administration-owned hospital in town,\"
\nthe regency's public relations head, Atang Sudjana, said
\nyesterday. He said that 23 mini markets in least-developed
\nvillages will also be officially opened.<\/p>\n
He added that all of the projects were financed by the
\nadministration, an Asian Development Bank loan and donations from
\nthe private sector.<\/p>\n
The administration plans to offer 75 tenders worth Rp 30
\nbillion during the 1996\/1997 fiscal year.<\/p>\n
All the tenders are in process, but many local contractors
\nwere not invited to bid.<\/p>\n
\"Sixty contractors which are members of the Bekasi chapter of
\nthe Indonesian Builders Association were invited in the first
\nbidding while 48 others were invited in the second bidding,\"
\ndeputy chairman of the association's local office, Yadhi Biki,
\ntold The Jakarta Post yesterday.<\/p>\n
Yadhi admitted that some of the association's members had bad
\nreputations from past projects. However, he said, such bad
\nattitudes must have resulted from poor guidance and supervision
