        "content": "<p>10 children drowned when boat capsizes off Cirebon<\/p>\n<p>Nana Rukmana, The Jakarta Post, Cirebon<\/p>\n<p>At least 10 children were drowned when an overloaded vessel<br>\ncapsized during a traditional good luck ceremony in waters off<br>\nthe West Java city of Cirebon on Sunday, police here said.<\/p>\n<p>They said the death toll could rise as authorities and local<br>\nvillagers were still searching for passengers. It was unclear how<br>\nmany people were aboard the ill-fated boat.<\/p>\n<p>Losari Police chief Adj. Comr. Wahyudi said the fishing vessel<br>\nwas likely overloaded, causing it to capsize at around 10:10 a.m.<br>\nlocal time.<\/p>\n<p>The motorized boat sank around 35 kilometers east of Cirebon<br>\nas its passengers struggled for food offerings floating in the<br>\nsea as part of a traditional Nyadran ceremony held by residents<br>\nof Ambulu village in Losari subdistrict, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wahyudi said the children killed in the mishap were aged<br>\nbetween four and 12 years. Authorities were still identifying the<br>\ndead.<\/p>\n<p>The boat's captain, identified only as Udin, and his son were<br>\namong the survivors, who also included three brothers.<\/p>\n<p>Udin is being questioned about his culpability in the deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Wahyudi said the sinking occurred in waters at a depth of two<br>\nmeters and was witnessed by many participants of the cultural<br>\nparty, who were on board of different vessels.<\/p>\n<p>\"Between 20 and 25 boats were participating.
