PT Jasa Marga has recorded 1.7 million vehicles returning to the Jabotabek region during the early phase of the post-Eid al-Fitr holiday period from 11 to 23 March 2026, representing about 50% of the projected total. Traffic volumes remain below normal levels but are increasing, with significant surges noted on 23 March, prompting Jasa Marga to enhance toll road services and advise travellers to plan journeys carefully using the Travoy app. This influx highlights the challenges of managing holiday return traffic on key toll gates from Java, Bandung, Merak, and Puncak, aiming for safe and smooth travel amid peak periods.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has recorded a total of 1,702,500
vehicles returning to the Jabotabek area during the period from H-10 to
H+2 of the Eid al-Fitr 1447H/2026 holiday, or from 11 to 23 March 2026.
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A Purwantono stated that this figure
is the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates: Cikampek Utama
Gate (from the Trans-Java direction), Kalihurip Utama Gate (from
Bandung), Cikupa Gate (from Merak), and Ciawi Gate (from Puncak).
According to Rivan, this number equates to 50.16% of the total projected
3.39 million vehicles expected to return to Jabotabek from 11 to 31
March 2026. For the eastern direction, traffic from Trans-Java via
Cikampek Utama Gate was recorded at 309,156 vehicles, 15.2% lower than
normal traffic. Meanwhile, from Bandung via Kalihurip Utama Gate,
387,592 vehicles were recorded, 7.1% lower than normal conditions. In
total, traffic from Trans-Java and Bandung reached 696,748 vehicles, or
10.9% lower than normal traffic. From the west, vehicles returning to
Jabotabek via Cikupa Gate totalled 568,159, 4.9% lower than normal
traffic. Meanwhile, from the south via Ciawi Gate, 437,593 vehicles were
recorded, or 5.6% lower than normal traffic. Rivan explained that the
volume of return traffic began to increase from H+2 of Eid 2026.
“Vehicle traffic flow is expected to continue rising, especially during
the peak return periods on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026,” said Rivan. On
H+2 Eid, or Monday (23/3/2026), the number of vehicles returning to
Jabotabek at the four main toll gates totalled 225,293 vehicles, an
increase of 73.7% compared to normal traffic of 129,695 vehicles. A
significant increase also occurred at Cikampek Utama Gate with a total
of 75,837 vehicles, or up 197.7% from normal traffic. In line with this
increasing trend, Jasa Marga is strengthening services on several main
toll roads. Efforts include optimising toll booth operations, preparing
toll road service fleets, and implementing situational traffic
management in coordination with the police. In addition, Jasa Marga is
preparing functional lanes to support traffic distribution and ensuring
24-hour readiness of personnel. “We urge road users to prepare their
journeys thoroughly during this return period, including ensuring
vehicles and drivers are in prime condition before travelling and
complying with traffic rules and instructions from on-site officers. To
obtain traffic information and assist with journey planning, the public
can use the Travoy app and contact Jasa Marga’s Call Centre at 133,”
explained Rivan. For road users with flexible schedules, Rivan suggests
shifting their return to Jabotabek during the Work From Anywhere (WFA)
period from 25 to 27 March 2026 to avoid congestion during peak return
times. “Through thorough journey planning by road users and strengthened
collaboration with relevant stakeholders, we hope that travel during
this return period will be safe, comfortable, smooth, and secure,” said
Rivan.
",
