The Riau Islands Regional Police Department (Polda Kepri) has\ndeployed 1,450 joint personnel to oversee the flow of holiday travellers\nand provide security for the Eid holiday celebration (1447 Hijriah\/2026\nCE) through Operation Ketupat Seligi 2026.<\/p>\n
Regional Police Chief Inspector General Asep Safrudin stated that the\nsecurity operation forms part of the nationwide Operation Ketupat 2026,\nwhich runs for 13 days from 13 to 25 March 2026 across all of\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis operation aims to ensure the public can travel safely and\ncomfortably during the holiday exodus and celebrate Eid with peace of\nmind,\u201d he said on Friday (13 March).<\/p>\n
The operation involves multiple cross-agency elements including the\nArmed Forces, the Transportation Authority, local governments, Jasa\nRaharja, and various related institutions. The 1,450 joint personnel\nwill be stationed across all districts and cities in the Riau Islands\nregion to support the smooth conduct of security operations.<\/p>\n
A pre-operation parade for Operation Ketupat Seligi 2026 was led\ndirectly by Regional Police Chief Asep Safrudin alongside Riau Islands\nGovernor Ansar Ahmad at the Bhayangkara Field of Polda Kepri on Thursday\n(12 March).<\/p>\n
Security will be concentrated at key mobility hubs, particularly port\nareas including both domestic and Ro-Ro ferry terminals. In addition to\nmonitoring the outbound and return flows of holiday travellers,\npersonnel will conduct patrols in residential areas that residents have\nvacated and monitor security conditions at crowded locations.<\/p>\n
The Regional Police Chief emphasised the importance of inter-agency\ncoordination to ensure the operation\u2019s success, including monitoring\ntraffic flow, fuel availability, and provision of essential goods for\nthe public during the Eid period.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope the security situation in the Riau Islands region remains\nconducive so the public can celebrate Eid peacefully,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad stated that the provincial\ngovernment, alongside district and city governments, has coordinated\nefforts to anticipate potential obstacles during the holiday exodus\nseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have held coordination meetings with all relevant parties to\nensure the holiday exodus and Eid celebration proceed smoothly,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The Governor also emphasised the importance of monitoring transport\nfares for both maritime and air services to prevent price increases that\ncould harm the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cMonitoring will continue to ensure business operators comply with\napplicable regulations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Nationwide, Operation Ketupat 2026 will secure 185,607 objects\nincluding mosques, terminals, harbours, and airports.
