A total of 1,280 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) in\nWest Java will participate in training through the SMK Go Global\nProgramme. Bandung University of Technology (UTB) serves as one of the\ntraining sites preparing participants to meet the requirements of the\ninternational workforce.<\/p>\n
The programme was officially launched at the West Java level at the\nUTB Campus Migrant Centre on Wednesday (26\/08\/2026). The SMK Go Global\nProgramme is part of a national initiative to increase the capacity of\nskilled Indonesian migrant workers.<\/p>\n
Before undergoing training, participants must pass administrative\nselection and interviews. Those who pass will then undergo training\naccording to their specific areas of competence and available job\nopportunities.<\/p>\n
The Head of BP3MI West Java, Police Commissioner Singgih Hermawan,\nstated that 1,2<0xA0>280 prospective migrant workers in West Java\nwill receive training lasting between one to three months. The\ncurriculum is tailored to industry needs, including production\noperations, manufacturing, English, Japanese, and nursery care.<\/p>\n
\u201cTraining is available in several sectors at UTB, including\nproduction operations, manufacturing, and English. There is also\nJapanese and nursery care. SMK Go Global covers everything for those who\nwish to go abroad and require capacity building,\u201d he said in a press\nrelease on Saturday (05\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n
Singgih noted that in addition to technical skills, participants must\nprepare themselves mentally and develop adaptability, as they will be\nworking far from their families. \u201cWe hope the participants at UTB can\ncarry out their training well, remain motivated, and maintain mental\nresilience,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
According to Singgih, participants are being prepared to work in\ndestination countries designated by the government once placement\nrequirements are met. They are expected to maintain their competence and\nrepresent Indonesia well in their host countries.<\/p>\n
The Rector of Bandung University of Technology, Muchammad Naseer,\nstated that participants need to build both skills and character\nsimultaneously. Discipline, adaptability, and professionalism are\nconsidered essential assets in an international working environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cSkills are important, but attitude also determines how someone is\naccepted, trusted, and able to grow within a working environment,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman,\nremarked that the SMK Go Global Programme brings together the government\nand higher education institutions to prepare the younger generation for\nthe global labour market.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an excellent programme scheme because relevant ministries,\nthe government, and universities are collaborating to prepare our youth\nto enter the global job market through the SMK Go Global Programme,\u201d\nHerman explained.<\/p>\n
Herman added that the West Java Provincial Government will expand\nprogramme access through partnerships with both public and private\nuniversities. He noted that West Java\u2019s educational ecosystem can be\nutilised to broaden opportunities for capacity building and job access\nfor the youth.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will work hand-in-hand to ensure that by 2029, there are no\nunemployed youths in West Java,\u201d he stated. He also noted that beyond\nvocational skills, the younger generation needs to master critical\nthinking, creativity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to adapt to\nchanging global work requirements.<\/p>\n
At the national level, the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian\nMigrant Workers (P2MI), Mukhtarudin, stated that the SMK Go Global\nProgramme is a national priority to prepare competent and\ninternationally competitive Indonesian talent.<\/p>\n
The government aims to prepare 500,000 skilled workers for overseas\nemployment between 2026 and 2029. This target consists of 300,000\nvocational school (SMK) graduates and 200,000 participants from general\neducation levels, including high school, diplomas, and\nundergraduates.<\/p>\n
The workforce preparation target will be implemented in stages:\n40,000 participants in 2026, 140,000 in 2027, 180,000 in 2028, and\n140,000 in 2029. Participants are being prepared through technical skill\nenhancement, language proficiency, certification, and readiness for\ninternational work environments.<\/p>\n
For UTB, involvement in the SMK Go Global Programme is an effort to\nbridge community competency enhancement with the needs of the\ninternational labour market.
